Corrections Policy

Our Commitment to Accuracy

ScoreZ is committed to publishing accurate, reliable, and trustworthy sports journalism. Despite our rigorous editorial standards, errors can occur. When they do, we are committed to correcting them promptly, transparently, and prominently.

This policy explains how we handle errors, how you can report them, and how we document corrections over time.

1. Types of Errors

We recognise several categories of errors that may require correction:

Type Description Response
Factual Error Incorrect facts, statistics, names, dates, or scores Correction issued; article updated
Misleading Content Information presented in a way that creates a false impression Clarification or correction issued
Significant Omission Key context missing that materially changes how a story is understood Update or editor's note added
Typographical / Minor Error Spelling or grammatical errors that do not affect meaning Silently corrected
Outdated Information Facts that were accurate at publication but have since changed Update notice added

2. How to Report an Error

If you believe a piece of content on ScoreZ contains a factual error, please contact us as follows:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Subject Line: Please use the format: Correction Request — [Article Title]
  • Include: The URL of the article, a description of the error, and (where possible) evidence or a source supporting the correct information.

We take all correction requests seriously. Our editorial team will acknowledge your request within 2 business days and complete our review within 5 business days.

3. Our Correction Process

Upon receiving a correction request, our editorial team will:

  1. Review the original content and the submitted evidence independently.
  2. Consult the journalist or editor responsible for the original piece where necessary.
  3. Verify the correct version of the information using primary sources.
  4. Act based on the outcome of the review:
    • If an error is confirmed, we will update the article and append a correction notice.
    • If the original content is determined to be accurate, we will respond to the complainant with our findings and reasoning.
    • If the matter requires further investigation (e.g., legal advice), we will notify the complainant of the delay and the reason.

4. How We Label Corrections

Transparency is central to our corrections practice. All material corrections are clearly documented within the affected article:

  • A Correction Notice is appended at the top or bottom of the article, stating what was changed and when.
  • The original incorrect text is not retained in the published article; the corrected version replaces it.
  • Where a correction significantly changes the substance of an article (e.g., a match result, a transfer fee), a note is also added at the top of the page.

Example correction notice format:

Correction, [Date]: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated [original claim]. This has been updated to reflect that [corrected information]. We apologise for the error.

We do not silently alter material factual errors without disclosure.

5. What We Do Not Correct

The following are not treated as corrections under this policy:

  • Opinion and analysis — Disagreement with an editorial opinion or analytical conclusion is not a factual error. We welcome letters and responses to opinion pieces.
  • Predictions and projections — Forward-looking content (e.g., match predictions) that proves incorrect after the event does not require a correction.
  • Developing stories — Breaking news content is clearly labelled as such and is updated as events develop. Initial reports later superseded by new information are updated with appropriate notices rather than corrections.

6. Correction History Log

In the interest of full transparency, ScoreZ maintains a publicly accessible log of all material corrections issued. This log records:

  • The date of the original publication
  • The date the correction was issued
  • A brief description of the error and the correction made
  • A link to the corrected article

The corrections log is available at: https://scorez.io/corrections/log/

7. Appeals

If you are dissatisfied with our response to a correction request, you may escalate your complaint to our Editorial Standards Team at [email protected] with the subject line: Editorial Complaint — Escalation.

If you believe our editorial conduct breaches applicable media standards, you may also raise a complaint with the relevant press or digital media regulatory body in your jurisdiction.
