Editorial Policy
Our Commitment to Editorial Integrity
ScoreZ is committed to delivering accurate, fair, and independent sports journalism. This Editorial Policy sets out the standards and principles that govern all content published on https://scorez.io, including news articles, match reports, analysis pieces, transfer updates, opinion columns, and any other editorial output.
All editorial staff, contributors, and freelancers working with ScoreZ are required to read, understand, and adhere to this policy.
1. Accuracy and Verification
Accuracy is the foundation of our editorial practice. Before publishing any piece of content, we require:
- Source Verification — Every factual claim must be supported by at least one credible, identifiable source. Where possible, we seek corroboration from two or more independent sources.
- Primary Sources First — We prioritise direct quotes, official club statements, governing body announcements (e.g., FIFA, UEFA, national federations), and official statistical providers over secondary or aggregated sources.
- Pre-Publication Checks — Editors review all content for factual accuracy before it goes live. Breaking news items are clearly labelled as developing stories and updated as verified information becomes available.
- Statistics and Data — All match statistics, player performance data, and league tables are sourced from licensed data providers. Where figures are estimates or projections, this is clearly stated.
2. Independence and Conflicts of Interest
ScoreZ's editorial output is fully independent from commercial interests. Specifically:
- Advertising, sponsorship, and commercial partnerships have no influence on editorial decisions, story selection, or the tone of coverage.
- Editors and journalists must disclose any personal relationships or financial interests that could create a conflict of interest in relation to a story they are covering. Where a conflict exists, the journalist in question will be reassigned.
- Paid-for content (native advertising, sponsored features) is clearly and prominently labelled as "Sponsored Content" or "Advertisement" and is editorially separated from our independent news coverage.
3. Fairness and Impartiality
We aim to represent all sides of a story fairly:
- We provide clubs, players, agents, governing bodies, or individuals with the right of reply before publishing any content that contains allegations or criticism directed at them, and we allow reasonable time for a response.
- Opinion and analysis content is clearly distinguished from factual news reporting through appropriate labelling (e.g., "Opinion", "Analysis", "Column").
- We do not allow personal bias, partisanship, or favouritism toward any club, league, nation, or individual to influence our coverage.
4. Sources and Confidentiality
- Anonymous Sources — We may use anonymous or confidential sources where there is a compelling public interest and the information cannot be obtained by other means. The use of anonymous sources must be approved by a senior editor. We do not name anonymous sources without their explicit consent.
- Source Protection — We are committed to protecting the identity of confidential sources. Journalists may not be required by editorial management to disclose a confidential source.
- Transfer and Exclusive Reporting — When publishing transfer news or exclusive stories from sources who cannot be named, we clearly indicate the basis of the report (e.g., "according to sources close to the club") to allow readers to assess its reliability.
5. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
ScoreZ may use AI-assisted tools in certain parts of our editorial workflow. We are committed to full transparency about how AI is used:
- AI-Assisted Drafting — Some content, such as match summaries and statistical roundups, may be initially generated using AI tools. All such content is reviewed, edited, and verified by a human journalist or editor before publication.
- AI is never the sole author — No content is published under a ScoreZ editorial byline that has not been reviewed and approved by a qualified human editor.
- AI Labelling — Where AI assistance has played a significant role in the creation of a piece of content, we will disclose this in the article (e.g., "This match report was produced with AI assistance and reviewed by our editorial team").
- Prohibited AI Uses — We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, create deepfake images or videos, or generate any content intended to deceive readers.
- Ongoing Review — Our use of AI tools is subject to ongoing review by senior editorial management to ensure alignment with our accuracy and integrity standards.
6. Images and Visual Content
- All images published on ScoreZ are either licensed from accredited photo agencies, used with explicit permission from the rights holder, or are in the public domain.
- We do not publish images that have been manipulated in a way that misrepresents reality without clear disclosure.
- Images depicting minors in sports contexts are published with consideration for the child's dignity and, where required, appropriate permissions.
7. Comments and User-Generated Content
- ScoreZ may offer reader comment sections on certain articles. Comments are moderated in accordance with our community standards, which prohibit hate speech, harassment, defamation, and illegal content.
- We reserve the right to remove comments that violate our community standards and to ban users who repeatedly breach our guidelines.
- User-generated content submitted to ScoreZ (e.g., via social media tags) may be featured on the platform with the user's consent and appropriate attribution.
8. Corrections and Complaints
If you believe content published on ScoreZ contains a factual error, is misleading, or breaches this Editorial Policy, please refer to our Corrections Policy for information on how to report the issue and how we will respond.
9. Governing Standards
ScoreZ operates in accordance with applicable press and media standards in the jurisdictions in which it publishes. We are committed to the principles of responsible digital journalism, including accuracy, independence, fairness, privacy, and accountability.
